lemming....

I've found the PERFECT size HP for my tiny baby hands!!!

But the irritating thing is, I can change till Dec this year! Argh!

I was eyeing the Nokia then I realized Singtel don't carry it so there goes the Nokia and just yesterday, I found this new HP.

The Sony Ericson Xperia X10 Mini!

It's a tiny tiny hp but I love the size!! But the camera is only 5megapixel.... I would want to have a higher end hp camera seeing that muffin would be out by Dec and a HP is the most convenient tool to be snapping.

But if all goes well, yep, I'm getting this! Either the X10 mini or the mini Pro! The only difference is the Pro comes with the qwerty keyboard. Size is like just 1 or 2 mm difference, not much difference at all, I should say.

Mr and Mrs Shawn Tay!

17 June 2010.

The solemnization ceremony of Shawn and my ex-colleague Ee May at Raffles House in Fort Canning Hill.

I kind of saw EM blossom from a young adult to into her womanhood. hahaha... We knew each other in 2004/2005. That's like 6 years ago!

And she's our merit award winner when she did her diploma with us too. Her glorious moments and even till now, my director and lecturers remember her and on occasions still mention her as our triumph and pride.

"I pronounced you Husband and Wife. You may kiss the Bride."

=D Awww... I love such scene. So heart warming.

Din have a a chance to take a photo with both the groom and bride. So just a shot with the pretty bride.

Marital Bliss Always EM and Shawn!

But hor, digress a bit bit, I'm so glad that I haven't forgot how to stick falsies! After the last time I stuck falsies in Feb during CNY, I haven't had the chance to do so. So I took the chance to do it.

Nice right the drama mama falsies! Teacher Cin, ur verdict please? hahahhaha...

I think I'm getting the hang of it, just that, I need to speed up things a little. And definitely it's too much work to be doing it on a regular basis but once a while for some functions, its worth the effort!

The big secret.

It's now safe to spill the beans...
Yep, a 2 lined pee kit.

And if you still can't catch, the pee on the pee kit is mine. And so, that effectively makes me pregnant, a mom to be!

So far, the doc says everything is normal. So that's good. The OSCAR (test for down syndrome) shows that muffin is at the low risk, that's wonderful!

Now, both the hub and me are pretty excited yet nervous at the same time and also trying to get somethings done and prepared for the arrival of our lil' one.

We're not getting any gender definite colors for now since it could be any for the time being.

But, no matter the sex, we're happy with a happy, healthy and normal kiddo!

Woh... I've been MIA-ing for so long!

I din realise the last I updated this blog of mine was in March. That's more than 2 months ago already!

Nothing much as been going on, hence the update, I guess life without studies is monotonous and stress free. I only need to think of how to best enjoy life!

Quite shiok actually but then again, can get pretty boring after a while too.

Work wise, yes, there's a change in my reporting officer (not coz I've graduated, it's just a change), not really looking forward to it unfortunately, but then again, work is work and since the Big Boss up there allowed this to happen despite my praying no, then so be it la. If the Big Boss wants it this way, it shall be done and anyway, I'm allowed to 'throw' all the things back to Him.

Anyway, there should be more exciting news than this coming up soon... stay tuned! Will update when the plan is executed and proceeding as planned!

Random conversations

I came across a few interesting conversations today and it sort of made my day and hence, I'm writing it down.

Conversation 1:
Was standing beside a student leader while waiting for the rest of the other secondary school students to queue up in front so as to move off to another plc.

Student Leader: *Out of the sudden* "Ms Sharon, you are very sweet lei. I always find people named "Sharon" very sweet.
Me:*Stunned* Oh! Thank You.

This got to be the FIRST time in my 30 years that the word "Sweet" is used to describe me. And honestly, none of the other "Sharons" in my list can be described as "sweet". "Authoritative" yes. "Decisive" yes. " "Sweet" hmmm... First time in my life!

Conversation 2:
After the whole event, we, the organizers were milling around and waiting for the 1,200 students at the refreshment point.

Colleague: *was eating refreshment* Did you eat? Have some la.
Me: No la, don't want. Later going to in laws hse will be eating dinner, now eat, later cannot eat.
Colleague: Huh?! You are married already?
Me: *showing wedding ring* Yep. Married le.
Colleague: Aiyoh. Why you in such a rush to get married?
Me: Why? Too bad lor is it?
Colleague: Ya lor. hahahahahhahahhhahahah
Me: Then too bad lor. hahahhhahhahaha

Sure made my efforts in the whole event worth it la! Of course, I'm not taking him seriously, just that some times, these conversations are the ones that made me very glad and enjoy my work.

I reiterated conversation 1 to the Hub and his immediate reaction was "Your student is AB is it?"

hahahhahhahaha.... For those of you who don't get the AB bit, you got to refer to the link here.

And the hub's reaction to conversation 2 was just a simple "ok lor. Then?"

Am not quite sure what that means though. whahhahahhaha....

Sponge Detergent

I've read reviews on the MU sponge detergent from Daiso. Been trying to find a bottle but its always OOS when I saw the shelve full of it, I got a bottle.

At $2, even if it does not work, it's ok la. Not much of a heart break.

Disgusting pic ahead...
...
...
...
...
...
...

Before washing...

Dirty RMK Pressed Powder Sponge.

After washing...

Hmm... I see not much difference... maybe coz it's still wet.

If the sponge does not get cleaner, I'll just ditch it and get a new one. Rather pay than to get outbreaks!

Edited on 26 Feb.

Cindy taught me another method to wash the sponge. That is, pour the detergent on the sponge, rub a bit, pour hot water over it and let it soak for about an hour.

The result. Clean and almost brand new looking RMK pressed powder sponge! The only thing is the rubbing and soaking caused the backing to fall off. =(

L'Officiel x Ed Pinaud promo

Sis's friend told me of this promotion. Preorder the mag at $6.90 and then can get the Ed. Pinaud ES quard for free, which is orginally worth $59!

Needless to say, I made my choice and order.

Waiting for it to come and sit in my mailbox which the Hub will open.

There's a total of 6 shades to choose from, link here on FB. Pre-order the mag here (payment by paypal).

More CNY outfits

After a whole week and I started right from the eve of the eve, I've still not finished wearing my CNY clothing!

Then last night, when Hub and I were out, I bought another 2 more! Gosh... I think I really can wear for all 15 days of CNY!

My new clothing yet to be worn.

Dress and Long Tee from FNT

.

2 more new tops that I got from Robinsons last night.

Can't resist the girl... so I got it. Not that ex too, $29.

I don't have a black tunic so I got as well. Comes with gold chain, black leather belt and a beady brooch.

Not to mention, I've also bought lots of leggings. Shades of grey, black, blue...

Milky Foot

After such good reviews from Via and Cin, I decided to give the milky foot a try too...

Everything is self contained in the box.

Instructions, foot wrap and the sticker to seal up the wrap.

It actually feels a little yucky when I soak my foot inside. And coz its supposed to be soaked in for 1 hour at least, I can feel my feet getting warm after a while. I don't think its the essence working, but more like my feet being wrapped up, hence its warm.

So far, no peeling after I washed off the essence yesterday night. But I must say, my soles feel smoother.

Will continue to update....

BTW, I saw the Taiwan version online and its only $12, but its OOS for now. Stocks will only be coming in in 2 to 3 weeks time. Will be getting a pair of that for the Hub to try. If it works, then I'll switch to this cheaper one. whhahahaha...

30th Birthday

and it was the 2nd day of CNY, hence most shops are closed and there's also nothing much we can do.

My 2 sisters and the hub 'celebrated' my special day with me.

In a nutshell, it was, lunch, walk around, coffee & cake and go home. Very boring la, yes.
But the company was good. Laughed and joked.

Resting at Pacific Coffee. Shot taken by Hub.

Hub and me, squeezed into 1 armchair.

Shot taken by the middle sis and we're not even in the center of focus! We all had a good laugh over this photo and then took another.

This time, taken by the youngest sis.

Good, in the middle, but need to crop that man away. hahahha....

My half eaten cake, Hazelnut praline something something...

NICE lei! Not too sweet, with enough crisps!

Present from Hub... Soft leather bag from Charles & Keith. Roomy and reasonably light.

But am not quite sure if it's a Vday present or Bday present.

Oh ya. Outfit for 2nd day, Big Butterfly print (Frontieer again) oversize tee-shirt with old jeans.

Edited on 19 Feb...

And my Bday celebration extends to the 2nd and 3rd portion!

2nd celebration was a surprise with my girlies springing a SURPRISE bday on me at Toh Palace. The gathering at Toh Palace was supposed to be CNY gathering. But WOW my girlies customized a ME cake for me!

Shopping Queen ME on my 30th Bday.

My ME Bday Cake and me.

I'm touched and surprised at the effort that the girlies have gone to plan for it knowing that all of them have different schedules to meet and to come together.

I LOVE these 2 photos of Queen and Hub.

Doesn't it look like we already have a child, a very cute and pretty Girl?

And Queen and Uncle Jer is so matchy matchy that day! Awww....

Group shot of all the Girlies masterminds, queen and the 2 guys at the back.

The last bit of my Bday (or maybe its Vday) celebration, Hub and I went to Shaw for dinner at Tonkichi.

We've heard quite a fair bit of reviews and we decided to try.

Appetizer

We upgraded 1 of the miso soups to Premium Miso Soup.

More ingredients and more salty. hahaha...
We only ordered the Twin Meal and we were full to the brim!

Pork loin, fillet, prawns and veggies I think.

I like the sauce on the cabbage!

Makes the veggies even more tasty! And its refillable. This, we din know. hahha..

and a last shot of us before leaving the plc.

Jer seems to have blended into the surroundings. hahhaha....

Thank you all for all the time and effort spend on my Bday!

Outfits for CNY

The only thing that I'm excited and looking forward to is the wearing of my new outfits! =D

And I have so many clothes that I can afford to start wearing it TOMORROW! whahhaha... The eve before the eve! Just nice for the office "Lo-Hei" gathering too.

So, I'm doing a sneak peak. But an advance apology for the blur pics, pics were taken with HP camera... will try to get some photos when I'm wearing it.

Outfit for eve of the CNY eve.

Grey F21 top, freshly arrived via mail yesterday. Pairing this with black pants.

Am wearing this romper for dinner with PILs and also for visiting my parents after dinner on CNY eve.

Romper from KL, would be wearing a tube top inside, the opening is too big and low. The Hub will scream.

Ang kong kong for the First Day of CNY.

Dress from Fontieer. Will be pairing this with 1 of the many leggings that I got from KL and a belt.

I still have a few new tops residing in the wardrobe... Haven't decided when to wear it though. So when I have decided, I shall post again. =)

Oh yes... I'm excited... looking forward to wearing all these! heee....

Getting ready for that small card...

It’s time for me to change my IC… and yes, it means, I’m in the 30 zone… I shall tell myself “age is just a number, just a figure that will always continue to increase but never decrease” which unfortunately, works the same way for my weight. The other common factor would also be, oh well, both are just some numbers that make my life miserable.

Anyway, to get ready for that small card. After my hair date with Cindy sometime back, I went to my former bridal studio to snap an IC photo.

Left from the BS, with a little photoshop (WHERE?!) and right from Via, after photoshop.

Thanks Via. She made my laugh line disappear into thin air *poof* and I think the kind lady slimmed my fat face too! Whahhahahaha….

I’ve already received the ICA letter, now all I need is to get the rest of my other document ready and I’m ready for a new small card! Which, I think is wayyyy overdued!

Am already very very sick of looking at my 12 year old face!

My sis and hubby's comment, "You're wearing too much make up." Both, not literally in those words, but yes, same meaning. Bleh~~

Auntie @ Work

I can no longer deny this but yes, I am turning into 1 already. Slowly but surely but nevertheless, still turning into 1 auntie, the try to be cost efficient kind of auntie.

Why I say that? *sigh*

I met up with Ee May for dinner on Friday at Chinatown, and we went to a Korean Restaurant. The food's quite nice. Not as highly seasoned as some others I've tried and I think the price wise is pretty reasonable.

We shared
* ricecake
* steamed dumplings
* BBQ Pork Belly
and of course a bowl of rice for each of us and also, the side dishes were refillable.

Total costs was $43. I think quite worth. But this is not the auntie bit.

The auntie bit came before dinner.

EM and I went to Swanstons to get some toiletries. I was looking for Nioxin scalp treatment and Phyto's Hair Balm. Both items were not sold so I din get anything. But I got lots of sanitary towels. The extra long, extra extra long kind. Love those kind. And it was so cheap lor!

Bought toothbrushes as well.

Getting toiletries are normal. Yes. But I realized I am an auntie when I can just look at the item and then do an automatic mental calculation of how much I am saving if I buy at Swanstons compared to elsewhere. Right down to almost the cent bit!

For example. Estee's Cleanser (Splash Away, Perfectly Clean). Retailed in departmental stores, its $40. Swanstons $32! Airport, $36. Pink Beauty, $31.20!! Kose's lotion, 360ml, $120 in departmental stores and Swanstons, $93.70! Not to mentioned the various sanitary towels and tampons that I remember... Even the toothbrush, I can remember it's $2.90 at Swanstons and $3.20 at the shop nearby my plc.

Hai... I'm not sure to be proud of my 'cost savings' skills or to be ashamed. But then to console myself, only by saving on some other methods, will I be able to upkeep my other costly maintenance. And most importantly of all, if I can manage to get the exact same item at a lower cost, there is no need for me to spend more elsewhere.

Old habits die hard

After a break from my shopping, I thought I had sort of kicked the shopping bug. I.Honestly. Did. Believe. It.

But, I’m wrong la. Totally wrong la.

Accompanied my sis to get her eyesight tested to get a new pair of specs and in the end, I walked away with a pair of COACHie tai tai style shades!

My friendly optician gave me friendly price (I hope it was a friendly price) I think it is la. I went to check out at the Boutique, not the exact same pair but it was being retailed for close to $400. Even at the optician, it was also being retailed at close to $400…

In the end, I got it at almost half the price, I paid $238!

Worth or not, I can’t say since I’ve only worn it twice. But I will certainly find more chances to wear it out!

So, yes, I'm still very much a die hard shopping fanatic. $206+ at Fornteer (paid), $60+ at F21 online, $300+ at Next and now, $230+ for my tai tai shades (paid)at the Optician, which I haven't include in my annual contact lens supply.

So, so broke. So, NO MORE shopping for myself. I need to hand over my CC to the hub for safe keeping, till I clear all my bills.

New Look

I had a very much needed haircut date with Cin today in Next, ION.

Not cheap but I can still say, it's worth every single dollar that I spent.

From this messy hair... Dexter and his assistant worked magic with their hands and gave me a fresh new look!So different hor!

I think I look so much more feminine now! I've always envied girls with such kind of hair do and I thought I will never be able to carry it off coz of my curls. But I CAN!!!

I'm sooooooo happy and satisfied with my new cut! And hor, to 'preserve' this pretty first day cut, I asked Dexter to style it and I immediately zoomed to the studio to take my IC photo. =D

I Love it! The time and $$ spent today is worth every single second and dollar!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

Lunch

Haven't been preparing lunch for a long time, not since Hubby change jobs to be exact but I just bought pretty and cute cutlery and also a bag warmer from Diaso so was finding an excuse to use it la.

And so, I prepared lunch for today.

Mixed rice with hard boil egg, boiled scallops and hotdog and a bag of fresh greens (lettuce, carrots and yellow baby tomatoes)!
Complete with my cute and pretty cutlery. I got a pair of chopsticks in blue and the smiley spoon for Hubby too! The chopsticks also come with a plastic casing for easy storage.

Everything works the way it should except for the bag warmer. =( To give it credit, it’s not as cold as my rice would have been if I left it outside la. So the warmer does work for a SHORT period.

Monday, January 25

Girls, my turn for new shoes!

Claimed my half day time off (off in lieu of Mad House 2010) and was out in the afternoon with Tri.

After lunch at Kim Gary (Vivo), we went to Daiso and each of us bought a big plastic bagful of things. I had bento bag warmers, chopsticks, spoons, the detergent for MU brushes/sponge and other nitty gritty things.

But my best buy of the day is actually my new shoes. With soft rubberized sides and blings blings too! Best of all, it's only $16.90! Cheap, pretty and comfortable! It was on sale at the Atrium at Vivo and there's a further discount with Citibank card. End up, I only paid $16.05! Worth right! =)

On the other hand, today got to be the cheapest day out with Tri ever. I paid $30 at Daiso, $11.80 at Marks & Spencers ($1.80 after a $10 voucher), $2.50 at Giant for dinner and shoes. All in, less than $50!

My dear Tri spent close to $300 with her hauls. This is the FIRST time ever that she actually spent more than me in all our shopping trips!

Oh well, there's always a first in all things.

Forever 21 Haul

Brand New year, brand new haul and honestly, I've not been shopping on F21 for a loooong time.

And this is my haul. 1 top, 1 fancy hairband (which besides wearing to an impending photo shoot, I've got nowhere to wear to), 1 baret and 2 belts that amounts to USD $39. Considered very little in my own standards.

But, I guess the reason for so little items is cause, I just bursted slightly over $200 at Forntieer for 2 dresses and 2 (or was it 3?) T-shirt tunics not too long ago.

Still recovering from that hole in the pocket, it's too soon to be bursting another hole.

Open House (OH) 2010

I most certainly hope that this year will be the LAST and final year that I got to be involved in the Tours bit of OH for the rest of my life. I really have had enough of the ever changing instructions and if its not bad enough, its the shouldering of blame and faults which results of someone's else incapability.

As per the previous years, I got the tours bit again - which is also the toughest of all the various duties. My role includes contacting all the student to come for briefing (via sms, Thank God I have access to the SMS system and can use it to broadcast to limitless number of students at 1 go. But the thing is, ALL the numbers must be correct, meaning, valid HP numbers, else the whole list will not be sent). So, after contacting the students to come for briefing, got to track who has come, who haven't.

During the briefing itself, they were ALL told explicitly to look and remember which days their duties are together with some other information la. What to expect, how to behave as well as what they are required to do.

The week leading up to the OH, I got calls from different students asking me "When and which day and what are their duties." Sigh... Tell them come for briefing, don't come. Tell them to see their duty shift, don't see. Really think I am so damn bloody free to check for them individually lor. Damn.

After all these tracking and answering of students on an individual basis, I still got to sms them the day before for their duty again, in case they forgot and believe me, these students WILL forget.

The worse is, these students can still come and say "I don't know what I am supposed to do" *Argh* really feel like strangling all of them when this happens!

Actually, all these are not the worse, over the years, sort of come to terms and just accept it. There's nothing that I can do except to repeat and sound like a broken recorder.

The worse this year is that, another staff who was handling the secondary teachers actually told these teachers that when the secondary students are done with the tour, the teachers will be informed and then can meet the students back at the carpark and get on the bus together.

This, 'additional svc' has NEVER been practiced and of course, if we are told that we need to inform the teacher, we will, but the thing is, we don't even know!

So, the teacher's students left on the bus without the teacher, the teacher went back to school in a frenzy in a cab, because, MOE's guidelines. Students MUST be accompanied by teacher. Hence, if on the way back, the students met with an accident or whatsoever, the teacher will be in trouble.

Naturally, the teacher was pissed and she sent us an email thru the career guidance teacher. This matter got blown up. Super. Blown. Up. All of us in the committee is now being 'investigated' lor. All thanks to the idiot staff who caused it.

What irked me even further is, this same bloody staff, in order to cover up for this matter, blew up another small matter. My student leader got lost and led the visitors to the wrong venue. Come on lor. Lost and go wrong venue is sooooo common till we just close an eye to it already. Of course, we admitted that our student guides are wrong to go wrong venue and we have also highlighted and stress to the students the venue. *sigh*

So, yes, this year OH was a bad year. We kena blamed for something which is not our error and incapability but yet got to shoulder on the blame. Damn pissed.

Can only hope and pray very hard that this will be last year that I got to touch this explosive tours.

And the worse of the worse is, there's a very very very high chance that once, my company gets my SIM certificate, I most likely will be working UNDER this bloody staff!

*ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*

Friday, January 15

New year, old post.

Have been very busy for the last few weeks and its already mid Jan while I'm going to document my Dec 2009!

My Dec 26 to 29 was spent in KL with my 2 sisters. During our short 4D3N there, we covered Times Square, Sungei Wang, Bukit Bintan Plaza, Pavilion (all these malls are within walking distance of each other in the Bintan area)and even Mid Valley (we managed to get to Mid Valley because my youngest sis's friend came to look for her and gave us all a lift to MV.)

Food wise, we actually din eat that much (I think), besides the daily buffet breakfast we had in our hotel (Federal) we had Mdm Kwan's, Secret Recipe, Wendy's, KFC, Crispy Kreme and Beard Papa as lunch/dinner or tea in these malls.

Since, I've been to KL so many times, these malls don't attract me as much anymore but to my youngest sister, there's more things to see. The middle one, I guess, nothing much for her ba. But she just walk with us lor.

This trip, I'm proud of myself, I did not sign any credit card at all! I changed $500 SGD to get there and then changed another $100. Hence, in total, I spent $600 SGD. I came back with Warcoal Bras, (much cheaper as compared to here!), leggings, some girls' tees for Princess Clara and Queenie Chloe and lots and lots of snacks.

Hubby got the snacks as presents since I din manage to get anything for him at all. hahahha...

Came back on 29 Dec night and I was bushed. Tired after the long coach ride!

Then on 30 Dec, another happening day, right from lunch! We met up with some friends to celebrate a belated Bday for another friend in Dome, Bishan. Then hubby and I while our time away by going to town. We, 2 suakus, finally finally managed to step foot into Orchard 313! The post Christmas crowd was WOOOO... so many people!

After a break in Toast Box, we went on to meet my UniSIM friends at Raffles City for dinner at Plaza Market. More feasting. More chatting.

31 Dec, we attended the 10.30pm Thanksgiving Mass at Novena after rotting the whole day at home. The rotting also gave me the chance to recover from the trip and also yesterday... and also to rest enough for the next day!

New Year party at Toh Palace on 1 Jan 2010. My first New Year Party in my life! ahahhahaha..... We spent a good evening chatting, feasting, more chatting and playing with Queen. So much so to the extent that, hubby and I almost missed the last bus to get home!

A good ending to 2009 and a good beginning to 2010.

Recovered over the weekend as hubby is down with some virus and its back to work on Monday where, it's the Mad House 2010. This, deserves a post on its own on another day!
